Best Practice
Scaffold Board Gaps
This best practice should be considered at all construction projects.
- Inner boards must be secured to maintain a 50mm gap by using items such as a putlog coupler or restraining clip on items such as Van Theil adjustable transoms.
- There maybe times when it is necessary to cover or infill the gap between the boards caused by the inner row of standards.
- Best practice is to use proprietary infill strips such as the GapClamp™ or PAR Scaffolding Gap Protector.
- NASC TG12:17 Tying down of scaffold boards offers further guidance.
