Power Saw Workstations

Must be applied to all construction locations

• Equipment such as mitre saws, cutoff saws and circular saws must always be used in conjunction with a bench that allows the user to work at a comfortable height as well as ensuring that the equipment & work piece remain stable.
• The use of such equipment on the floor, or on improvised work benches such as pallets or materials is not permitted.
• Workbenches could include proprietary stands, robust work benches, or cutting stations. Mitre saws and cutoff saws must be firmly secured to the workstation. The material being cut must be supported.
• Such workstations should be segregated from general access through the use of barriers with hearing protection zones set up around them as necessary.
• All power saws that generate hazardous dust must be connected to suitable dust extraction.
